High level officials from the World Bank ( Head of the Global Practice, Social Protection and Labor Department and the Senior Advisor to the Deputy Director) as well as a representative from the European Union paid a visit to one of the PBS-ESAP2 implementation woreda, Kilte Awelalo woreda of Tigray on January 28 , 2015. During the visit, one of the social accountability implementing partners (SAIPs) Relief Society of Tigray (REST) made a presentation on the SA progress and results achieved so far; and discussion was held with the woreda social accountability committee (SAC) and local officials. The delegates also visited the health facility and rural roads being constructed in Negash kebele due to the SA initiative.
They further had a discussion with more than 40 community representatives and keble SAC. The team was impressed with the achievements and real engagement of citizens in assessing services, prioritizing their needs, and collectively taking actions to the improvement of basic service delivery. They also appreciated the joint effort and collaboration of FTA and ESAP2 on the ground and the engagement of citizens and service providers in the service delivery.
